Oats Upma
I am in a very strong oath to reduce weight. I am totally skipping rice. I am literally hunting down for riceless recipes. Read somewhere that GI is least in Basmati Rice than Brown Rice. So those of you who are considering the Diet Factor and having Brown Rice instead of White Rice should replan and consider Basmati Rice to Brown Rice. Pesarattu, Oats Idly, Horsegram Upma are some of the things I survive on for 2 meals a day. The rest one meal is multi grain Chapati. Are you planning to dit? Share your dieting tips too..Ingredients:
Oats- 2 cups
Onion- 2
Garlic- 3 pods
Red Chilly- 4
Salt- as per taste
Oil- 2 tbsp
Water- 1/2 cup
Carrot- 1
Beans-10
Curry Leaves- Few
Mustard- 1 tbsp
Chilly powder- 1 tbsp
Coriander Powder- 1 tbsp
Method:
Heat oil in a kadai.Fry mustard, curry leaves, red chillies.
Meantime finely chop onion, garlic, carrot and beans.
Fry onion and garlic. Add salt now (Adjust now)
Add carrot, beans, chilly powder, coriander powder and fry till beans is well cooked.
Add Oats and sprinkle half of the 1/2 cup water and mix well. Simmer and cook for a minute.
Open the lid and sprinkle rest of the water and cook for one more minute with constant stirring.
Put off the flame and serve hot with tomato chutney.
That looks delicious. I keep making them too. My tip for diet would be to cut down on sugar anywhere you can. Count your calories. Look for low calorie vegetables. And cut down on evening snack. Do not STARVE. :) Good luck
