Manathakkali Vatral Kuzhambhu
Yet another special dish of Tamilnadu- Manathakkali Vatral Kuzhambhu.
Ingredients:
Manathakkali Vathal- 5 tbsp
Oil- 2 tbsp
Mustard- 1 tsp
Fenugreek- 1 tsp
Curry Leaves - Few
Tamarind extract - 1 cup
Water- 1 cup
Salt as per taste
To Roast and Grind
Coconut- 1/2 cup (Shredded)
Red Gram | Thoor Dhall- 5 tbsp
Black Gram- 1 tbsp
Pepper Corns- 2 tbsp
Cumin- 1 tbsp
Red Chilly- 5 mos
Oil- 1 tbsp
Method:
Heat a wok with 1 tbsp oil.Roast thoor dhall, black gram, cumin, pepper and red chilly till a nice aroma arises.
Add coconut and fry till coconut turns mild brown.
Let the mixture cool and grind it with 100 ml water to make a smooth paste and set aside.
Heat the wok with 2 tbsp of oil.
Fry curry leaves, mustard.
Add manathakkali vathal and fry for 3 minutes.
Add the ground coconut masala paste and add 1 cup water.
Add salt, check and adjust now.
Add tamarind extract and let it boil for 10 minutes.
Put off the flame and serve hot with rice and pickle.
kuzhambu looks very tasty.
